Kids in Christ Latchkey Program
Our before and after school childcare program is available from 6 a.m. – 8 a.m. and dismissal – 6 p.m. every day school is in session. On those pre-lunch dismissal days, we have a pizza party!
Children engage in Bible stories, short devotionals, snacks and art projects, as well as having time for play and homework. We are a licensed, ecumenical ministry sponsored by Highland Hope.
Kids in Action School Holiday Camp
Realizing our families and others need a place for their kids on school holidays and teacher institutes, we’ve added camp days during the school year. Located at Highland Hope UMC, we provide service from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. for Kindergarten — 6th grade. We provide morning and afternoon snack (campers bring their own lunch), as well as many activities throughout the days. We may be singing, dancing, reading, creating art projects, playing outside when weather permits, and then there are all the fun activities our teachers dream up for the children.
Kids in Action Summer Day Camp
Runs May 23-August 12, 2016
We are excited about our summer program, Kids in Action! Kids in Action is a Christian summer camp that takes place at Highland Hope UMC. The camp operates Monday – Friday from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Kids in Action is available to children going into Kindergarten through Grade 6.
Our summer calendar is quickly filling up with scheduled field trips and activities. We will visit the pool twice weekly. We will be traveling to Marcoot’s Creamery, St. Louis Zoo, Edwardsville YMCA for skating, Splash City, Edison’s, Lincoln Museum, Gatewy Fun Park, St. Louis Science Center, and the City Museum.
Also, we swim two afternoons each week; at Lindendal Park, weather permitting, or the Korte Rec Center. Our schedule will be a bit different from previous years in that the children will be divided into groups so we can better provide activities at their developmental level.
As in past years, each child will need to bring a sack lunch with a drink (if they want something other than water). Highland Hope’s soda machine will not be available to campers. Also, we need to know of any allergies so we can plan appropriate snacks for all.
While we understand the children like to bring items from home, please understand that Kids in Action and Highland Hope are not responsible for these items. Please make sure these items are permanently labeled with your child’s name. We require that all electronic games brought to Kids in Action be rated E.
We are looking forward to a fun filled summer of Christian blessings!
