Kathryn Comish is a charter member of Highland Hope and a life-long Methodist. She and her husband Brian moved to Highland early 1996 and have four children, three of which were baptized at Highland Hope. Emily, Jordan and Johannah have all participated in youth group, Upward basketball/cheerleading and each been confirmed as members in the church. The youngest, Timothy, continues to enjoy VBS, Sunday school and Children’s Church.
Kathryn began as Director of Congregational Life in 1997, coordinating volunteers to set up and tear down for services when the congregation met at the school auditorium. She helped deliver visitor baskets, made banners for the service and sang in the Ensemble. She was very hands-on in the construction of the new building and its fixtures and resources.
Kathryn grew up on a farm in Sikeston, Missouri and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia were she earned a B.S. in Agriculture and a B.S. in Agriculture Education. She earned her Masters of Agriculture degree at Clemson University and was a sales manager for Pennington Seed, Inc. in Birmingham, AL. Kathryn designed the church landscape and has helped coordinate volunteers to plant and maintain it. She also enjoys scrapbooking and painting.
Kathryn is an active volunteer in the community through the city’s tree commission, band and choir parent associations, girl scouts and cubscouts, and Women’s Connection (Stonecroft Ministries). Kathryn’s part time role as Highland Hope’s Outreach Coordinator helps keep the church’s presence visible in the community.
