Pastor Bev was born in the coal fields of western Kentucky, in the small village of Hecla, where her grandfather was one of the founding members of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Bev became a United Methodist following her college years, while serving as High School Girls Basketball Coach in Hayti, MO.
It was during this time that Pastor Bev discovered that she had a call on her life to serve God, and to serve her country as an enlisted, and later commissioned officer. Her time with the Missouri National Guard spawned a passion for embracing the cares and challenges of military families.
When Pastor Bev met and married Jim, she was serving as the District Superintendent of the Mississippi River District of The United Methodist Church. Pastor Bev, Jim and their daughter Hannah made Highland, IL their home on July 1, 2013 when Bishop Jonathan Keaton appointed Pastor Bev to Highland Hope United Methodist Church.
This is Pastor Bev’s two-fold mission: First, to teach Biblical Truth in such a way that all of God’s children come to know how much God loves them beyond their circumstances. Secondly, to spread the welcome table for all of God’s children from every walk of life, so that all may come to personally experience the living love of Jesus. There is still room at the table for you.
