About Pastor Dan
Rev. Dan Perry, pastor of Highland Hope and was appointed to Highland Hope in July of 1999. Highland Hope is in the Mississippi River District a part of the IL Great Rivers Conference.
Pastor Dan attended Millikin University in Decatur, IL where he graduated with an degree in Vocal Music Education.
Pastor Dan was heavily involved in music and youth ministries for 13 years before answering his “call” and pursuing a theological degree. While attending Asbury Seminary he pastored the Taylorsville UMC in Taylorsville, KY and the Bloomfield UMC in Bloomfield, KY. The two years following his graduation from Asbury Seminary, he pastored full-time at the Taylorsville / Bloomfield United Methodist Charge.
Pastor Dan understands his calling is to be that of a pastor/teacher. He stresses in his ministry the importance of building a great marriage, developing a strong family, and spiritual formation for all ages.
He has recorded two solo albums, “With Every Breath I Take” and “I’d Rather Have Jesus”. He has appeared on numerous Christian TV programs and appeared with several well known Christian artists, as well.
His hobbies include fishing, singing, playing guitar, songwriting, listening to contemporary Christian music, and being with people. And he loves being a Grandpa, better known as “Papa”.
His favorite books include the Bible, My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers, Molder of Dreams by Guy Doud, and The Uprising by Erwin McManus. Most recently, he’s been reading Spiritual Entrepreneurs by Michael Slaughter, and Visioneering by Andy Stanley.
Dan is currently reading: The Presence Based Church by Terry Teykl, Going the Distance (How to Stay Fit for a Lifetime of Ministry) by Peter Brain, and Heaven Is For Real by Todd Burpo.
He has been married to his High School sweetheart Carol Harris Perry since 1972. They have two adult children, Liz & Matt.
They have two wonderful grand children.
